Computer Lab

We have several computers available for use. Once you have been issued a password, you're all set to do any of the following:

  1. Surf the internet and find favourite job search sites such as HRDC Job Bank or even visit employer web sites in order to research companies you may want to apply to.

  2. Work on your resume via Microsoft Word or the WinWay Resume program. Your work is saved at our centre and can be accessed by you anytime you come back to adjust your resume or for more copies.

  3. Access the Discover program with the help of your counsellor to assess yourself in terms of how your values, skills and interests will fit into different jobs and if those jobs are right for you.

Photocopies

Need copies of your résumé? Just ask one of our staff and we will make copies for you free of charge.

Fax Machine

Employer wants your resume faxed to him / her? Not a problem!  Fill out a cover sheet and we will send your fax out free of charge.

Phone

Need to get more info about a job? Want to verify with a possible employer whether he / she has received your resume yet? No problem! You can use the phone in our resource centre.

Job Board

On our job board you will find postings for employment from various employers throughout the city and surrounding areas, the HRDC Job Bank list of jobs (updated daily) and any information regarding employment.

Helpful staff

Our resource centre staff members are here to give a brief tour, get you started on the computer, help you with your resume and / or cover letter, guide you to the right book or publication and even photocopy and / or fax your resume for you.

Library

Our library shelves are filled with useful information to help you out in your job search process:

  1. Newspapers - We have may newspapers including The Sudbury Star, Northern Life, Le Voyageur, The Toronto Star, The Northern Miner and Canada Employment Weekly

  2. Pamphlets - We have various pamphlets containing information on different community services, employment programs, interships, apprenticeships, youth centres, etc...

  3. Books - We have many books to help you out whether you're working on your resume, putting a cover letter together, getting ready for an interview or just need information about the labour market. Some of our titles include: The Resume Catalog: 200 Damn Good Examples; Your First Resume, Cover Letters for Dummies, Last Minute Cover Letters, Secrets of Self-Employment, The Job Hunter's Catalog, The Career Directory, etc...

  4. University / College Catalogues - Planning to return to school or simply need more information about a course? We have catalogues for schools all over Ontario. We also have information about many different learning centres here is Sudbury.
