At the YMCA Youth Employment and Career Services, we have several workshops that our clients can access depending on eligibility. Here is a listing of our most popular workshops and a brief description for each.
| Skills-Based Resume |
| Employers need to know what skills you have to offer them, and your resume must showcase those skills! This workshop is an overview of a skill-based resume, currently popular with employers. We'll help you discover and highlight your strengths in order to best market yourself. |
| Marketing Yourself |
| This workshop provides you with valuable tips on marketing contact with potential employers, networking, accessing the hidden job market, information calls and much more. Make a good first impression and land yourself that job. |
| Interviews That Work |
| Guidance is provided for putting your best foot forward and achieving success in job interviews! Sample questions and answers are provided, as well as tips on proper conduct and what you can expect in a interview. |
| Silent Signals |
| Are you aware of the message your body language might be sending? This workshop will promote awareness of your body language, attitude and possibilities of miscommunication while approaching potential employers during the job search process and on the job. |
Mock Interviews |
| You will participate in a video-recorded practice interview. Feedback is provided on your strengths and what you may need to work on. This process helps you become aware of how you present yourself to others. |
| Succeeding In the Workplace |
| This workshop covers a variety of topics including safety in the workplace, workers' rights, handling stress and dealing with conflict. This workshop will help you adjust to a workplace environment and its variety of challenges. |
Excellence in Customer Service |
| In almost any job, you will have some interaction with a customer or client, whether directly or indirectly. This up-to-date workshop presents new perspective on what it means to give GREAT customer service in all careers! These skills will help you serve even the most difficult customers. |
